Guyabano – Graviola (Soursop)
It’s been called a miracle tree. Indigenous peoples from the Amazon jungle have used the bark, leaves, roots, flowers, fruit, and seed from the graviola tree for centuries to treat heart disease, asthma, liver problems, and arthritis. Graviola on Cancer
The main responsible for graviola’s anti-cancer properties is the set of chemicals called Annonaceous acetogenins. These compounds are only found in plant family Annonaceae in which graviola belongs.
Three separate laboratories have recently determined that these acetogenins are superb inhibitors of enzyme processes that are only found in the membranes of cancerous tumor cells. This is why they are toxic to cancer cells but have no toxicity to healthy cells.
Cancer cells may develop “energy pumps” after surviving chemotherapy. These pumps makes them resistant to anti-cancer agents making them even hard to kill. However, the anti-tumor properties of annonaceous acetogenins work by destroying these energy pumps. Normal healthy cells does not require as much energy as cancer cells so they are not affected by this effect.
